The cross country season starts in October with the first of the Kent Cross Country League events,
which continue to run through to February. In November and December the two South of the Thames
races are held and, before the end of the year, the Kent Masters Champs and the South of England
Champs also take place.
The New Year starts with the Kent County Champs followed by the South of England ‘Southerns’ Champs
and the National Champs. The season closes with the TWH Club Champs in Hargate Forest in March.
All events are open to fully signed up members (age dependent for masters events) and everyone is
encouraged to have a go. For more information please contact either Simon Holford (Men’s Captain) or
Jillian Holford (Women’s Captain)
Registration and entry for events can be accessed through the link below. A full list of entries for
each event is kept up-to-date here. Please note that there are no entries on the day so make sure
that you have been entered and appear on this list if you want to race.
Kent Cross Country League
From 2021, Senior men and women race the same 8km course, but not at the same time. Over 65 women and over 70 men race over a 5km course. There are four races each over the season, but even if you can only make it for one race you could still score valuable points for the club. The men take part in both a ‘first 4 to score’ and ‘first 12 to score’ competition; the women in a ‘first 3 to score’ and ‘first 6 to score’ competition.
South of the Thames (SOTT)
The South of the Thames Cross Country Association is one of the oldest associations in the country and its race series was once won by a previous incarnation of the club! Unlike other cross country races, all categories compete together, just not against each other. There are two races: a 5 mile ‘Teams’ race and a longer 7.5 mile ‘Championship’ race.
Championship Races
Although these are called championship races, and some take part over longer courses, they are open
and accessible to all club runners.
- Kent Masters XC Championships (‘Kent Vets’)
- The main XC masters championships of the year for our area, covering all categories from F35/M40 upwards with the opportunity to compete in age class categories.
