Yesterday, I headed to Worthing for a 10k race along the sea front.
I had made a previous visit to Worthing in February for the half marathon and the 10k course is largely the second half of the HM route, with wide, largely flat roads, which go out and back along the front, with a couple of loops mid race.
Like the HM there was a good pre-race atmosphere, helped by it being a warm and sunny morning and it was good to see Stella (Richardson) in the starting pens (and then hear Peter on cheering duties during the race).
Stella ran an excellent 51:34 to be 2nd V60, while I managed to run a couple of minutes quicker than my last 10k race, with a time of 47:15.
I would recommend this race for any harriers in the future…it’s a large, well organised event (just like the HM), an hours drive away, plenty of parking and a flat, fast course.
The men’s race was won by Finn McNally (Brighton Phoenix) in 30:39 and the women’s race by Maisie Trafford (Arena 80) in 36:57
