TWH run – 8 November – Remembrance week ‘Bombing Run’

Club Events
Greetings Harriers,

This week we have former chairman Andy’s Remembrance Week run from 2018.

So, with Andy Howey as this week’s Routemaster , fasten your seat belts and here we go ……

Please find attached his route map and briefing, together with some background history for the ‘Bombing Run’ which visits some of the sites of the bombing that affected Tunbridge Wells in WW2.

As mentioned in the briefing notes, many of our acts of remembrance focus on the armed forces in major conflicts, so it’s a sobering thought that residents of our town lost their lives in streets that we often use for our winter club runs, or in shops and houses that we pass in the course of our everyday lives.

Standard route 6.9 miles
Short route 5.4 miles

This week’s route is not all well lit. Please try and stay in groups as much as possible, looking out especially for guests, newer members and wear something bright and bring a head torch if you can for the park sections.

Current forecast for Wednesday is for a dryish 8C.

The Nevill is closed for repair for a month or two, so like last week we are going to utilise the fine facilities of the Nevill Tennis Club next door to us for baggage and post run showers followed by our post-run refreshment. Turnout has been great and we want to keep that going.

So after the run head over to the tennis club – the perfect temporary home for the top seeds of Kent running.

The ideal place to relax and chill ?

7:30 prompt start from the Tennis Club Bar – Tennis Club change rooms and showers are open, then its afters upstairs at the Tennis Club Bar – it’s time to commit !
