On Bank Holiday Monday 6th May, Alex Reid took part in the Bannister Miles event, being held to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Sir Roger Bannister breaking the 4 minute mile barrier.

A series of races took place at the Iffley Road track in Oxford, where the historic milestone was achieved. (see link below)

Not only did Alex win his race, but he took 8 seconds off his own club senior mens record, with a time of 4.16.55.

A brilliant achievement by Alex and just fantastic that our deckchair colours were so well represented at this unique event.

Closer to home, the Hildenborough Races on the same day saw club records a plenty.

In the 5 mile race, Tara Taylor set a new F55 club record of 34:45, eclipsing a record held by Stella Richardson since 2011.

The 2.5 mile race saw Stella improve her own club F65 record with a time of 22.50 and keeping it in the family, Gemma Sumner set an inaugural F40 club record of 24.03.

In the mens race, Stuart Corke also set an inaugural record of 16.43 in the M55 category.

Congratulations to all our latest record breakers.
