It was a busy day of club records at the first Tonbridge Open Track Meeting of the year, held in the sunshine on Easter Monday.
There was 100% success rate in the 150m with F40 Vicky Eames (22:98) and M45 Matt Newman (23:78) both setting records on their track debuts.
M65 Steve Austin (25:00) then set his latest club record and Paul Ketterer set an inaugural M50 record (25:12) despite suffering a calf strain.
Backing up quickly, Club Mens Road Captain, Matt Newman, then set an inaugural M45 record of 1:56:96 in the 600m
Mid afternoon saw Maria Gandara setting an F55 1500m record of 6:31:71 – again on track racing debut – before Matt picked up record no 3 with a 55:35 clocking in the 300m, before Steve Austin completed his London Marathon preparations by breaking his own M65 300m record in 54:33.
It was great to have Vicky, Maria and Matt (plus Saul Harris in the 3000m along with recent convert Eren Muduroglu ) making their track debuts for the club.
The next Tonbridge Open Meeting is in the evening on Tuesday May 6th and there is an upcoming Eastbourne Mile Festival on Saturday 24th May, if you fancy giving track a go – entries via the Open Track process.
Don’t forget that later in the summer, there are also Club Mile Track Championships for all age categories planned for BH Monday 25th August too.
Well done all
