Following on from our very successful trip to the lesser travelled Shropshire Hills AONB in June this year with 29 happy tourists, in 2025 we will be visiting the stunning Lake District. Keswick is a market town in northwest England’s Lake District National Park, surrounded by mountains like Skiddaw and the gentle beauty of Derwentwater. It has become the major centre for tourism in the northern Lake District. Plenty of running and lots of fun is planned, so don’t miss this great opportunity.
To confirm your place, transfer £50 deposit to the usual TWH bank account (reference – your surname / club tour) by Wednesday 31st July (and email me off group to confirm, and advise if you are staying Sunday night).

Those of you have been on tours previously know the tours have a history of being convivial and great fun. The mostly off road run routes can be challenging at times, however they are suitable for all fitness levels and also for walkers. Those on tour can use a variety of routes to suit their own enjoyment levels in terms of distance and pace. Maps are provided and we keep to groups for the company and safety.
We will be based at the Keswick Youth Hostel which is located very close to the town centre . It is a large YH but will we have a floor to ourselves. Our rooms are for 4 people and have private ensuite facilities. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes and pubs on our doorstep so there will be plenty to do, day and night.

We leave TW on Friday morning for a 340 mile / 8 hour drive and stop off at nice country pub on route (courtesy of Pub Stop Ed) for a relaxing lunch and arrive at our accommodation in Keswick late afternoon. We then have a run of 6 – 8 miles with plenty of variety and delights on route and with a rehydration option at the end. An enjoyable dinner is planned for afterwards.
Saturday, after breakfast, we can take a short stroll to the start of the Keswick Park Run . Afterwards we do a 10-15-20 mile run/walk that incorporates mountains, lakes, ups and downs and perhaps even some flat. Dinner at a local restaurant to follow. plus the option of a drink or two on the way home for the strong and the willing.
Sunday is a bit more relaxed and we will have planed a 10 mile-ish run/walk followed by a nice lunch somewhere. A few may need to return to TW afterwards for work on Monday but most will stay on for a leisurely afternoon of their choice in the vicinity.
Sunday evening might involve a curry house and a final attempt to sample all the local brews before the drive home on Monday.
Some may even decide that the childhood playground of Cuthbert Gill is to good to leave and stay on an extra day or two.
Don’t worry about the long drive as DJ Deights and DJ Timms will drop their tour playlists for our listening pleasure.
In terms of costings, bed and breakfast is approx £56pp per night plus food and drinks while away.
We usually get a group of about 25 to 30. While nice to see “experienced” tourists returning, it is always good to get some new faces as well. In 2024 we had 29 tourists with a lot of first timers and I’m keen for us to exceed that.
I know it seems a long time ahead to have to commit, however due to the popularity of Keswick and its YH I have to make a 20% non-refundable deposit in 2 weeks time.
Looking forward to hearing from you (I’m usually in Tonbridge on a Tuesday and at the club on Wednesdays for a run and drink if you want to chat about it).
Don’t be left behind
Yours in running touring,
