Hi Harriers
It was blowing hard in Folkestone on Good Friday and the bad weather continued this Monday For the Hildenborough 5. Luck was on our side as the rain held off for our race and times were pretty much unaffected. There were many superb performances. The ever consistent Jillian Holford and Ali Farrall were pipped by new boy Eren who continues to do very well in his first season competing for the club and by the amazing Tara Taylor.
Tara, aged 59 (sorry Tara) ran 34:45 and achieved an aged graded percentage of 89.67% which is phenomenal. As far as I can determine it is a record for the Harriers in KGP events, at least in the modern era and narrowly eclipses Andy Howey’s achievement in The Folkestone 10 back in 2018.
Meanwhile rising star Gareth Hiron has moved from 68% in January to 76% in May !
We had first KGP appearances on Monday for Gareth Chapman, Hannah Roberts, Danny Winson and Neil Simmonds.
Great results all round !

The club road Grand Prix Trophy is designed to encourage Harriers to race more often, and on equal terms with all other members as the results are adjusted for age and gender. Each race of the ten Kent Grand Prix series counts towards our club road grand prix with a percentage result based on finishing time, age and gender. This percentage is calculated according to the 2015 WAVA scale. The winner is the runner with the best score at the end of the season, that is the average of their best five percentages over the series.
Age graded Percentage guidelines:-
100% Approximate world record level
Above 90% World Class Level
Above 80% National Class Level
Above 70% Regional Class Level
Above 60% Local Class Level
