Having missed the entry deadline for Beachy Head, I travelled on Saturday to the Suffolk coast to compete in the Endurancelife Suffolk Marathon. A beautifully scenic Marathon with lots of varied terrain – forest, moorland, grass and beach.
Like all Endurancelife events, it was well organised. In keeping with Covid restrictions, runners were set off individually at 2 minute intervals dependent on your predicted finish time.
The course, by Endurancelife standards, was relatively flat. Some sections were extremely muddy – trail shoes were definitely essential! And the knee deep river 5 miles from the finish was a little grim. Despite my legs cramping badly in the last few miles, it was a good day out.
The winning time was was 3:13:31. I finished in 4:23:59 – 32nd overall and 1st in my age group.
