(I hope everyone had a good Christmas. Apologies for the late report, the results were only just released today)
This was the second South of the Thames event of the season and in a nice change from the Kent League, everybody runs together in the same race. The event itself dates back to 1888, with plenty of the big London clubs getting involved, making for a challenging field.
The course was 3 x 2.5 mile laps of Lloyds Park (because the normal cross country distance of 10km isn’t quite far enough). A week of rain leading up to the race meant that the mud levels were comparable to Glastonbury – Mudclaws or ultra long spikes were the order of the day. The mud made a challenging course that much harder and combined with the extra distance, for me it was definitely type 2 fun.
Results are included below. It looks like there were some good battles among the Harriers. Apologies for any errors ( I’ve taken them straight from the published results and already changed Geoff Turner to Andy). In the team results, the Men came 17th in the 6 to score and the Women 9th. In the 12 to score, we came 7th – so well done to all who ran in tough conditions.
