On Saturday 24th November a field of eighty women took part in the South of Thames 5 mile team race at Morden Park (running alongside the men’s race at the same time)
After a wet morning, conditions improved for the race and the ground was soft but not too muddy. The race was three laps around the park and the first woman to finish was Saron Haileselase of Belgrave Harriers in a time of 30:29.
Due To difficulties in finding the location only three Harriers managed to compete in the race (continuing the harriers curse) and the first to finish was Rose Sawyer in 60th place in a time of 41:40 followed by Brenda Purse in 42:38 and Carol Tsang in 47:27.
The next South of the Thames race will take place on 15 December at Beckenham Place Park.
