Sevenoaks 7 & Kent GP update

Reports (restricted)

Dear All

Well what an exciting Sunday that was in the cricket (except for Matt and Geoff J), although the Seveoaoks Seven did come a close second as a sporting spectacle!

We had an amazing 50 Harriers turn out (almost a ¼ of the club!) so massive thank you to all of you. I personally think this is a great race, although the hills after my Glastonbury training week were pretty hard! Well done Billy (1st) and Will (1stM40), full results below.

If anyone would like to write a race report please be my guest. It would be nice if you had a great race, set a PB or AG PB, beat Nicola etc. In the meantime I am going to embrace the digital age and all who were not there can check out the action on the Strava flyby https://labs.strava.com/flyby/viewer/#2531037808?c=u105s7kb&z=E&t=1TAlSF Small problem though, if it’s not on Strava it didn’t happen J (sign up and give the RTW monthly challenge a go to discover new parts of the town!).

Once again my numbers are bound to be wrong and there are issues in the official results (Tom not showing for one). However it looks like both teams put out excellent performances. Orpington are our main rival so just worked out compared to them:

Men

Points scored: 545
Orpington = 435 (so 110 difference including 26 taken away by non scoring Harriers)

In the Kent GP this means we are ~110 points behind (should be closer as few errors reported). However we lost 200 points to Orpington at Lydd so with a strong performance in next 3 events we can drop this and Paddock wood (our other low scoring result) as it’s the best 8 of the 10 that count.

Ladies

Points scored: 154
Orpington = 128 (so 26 difference including 6 taken away by non scoring Harriers)

This I believe puts the ladies on top by 12 points! Well done Ladies.

However things are looking very tight for both the mens and ladies teams and 1 more poor performance could be the difference this year. The next event is the Dartford 10K on Bank holiday Monday. We really need to put out a strong team again and given the bank holiday I appreciate that many of our usual runners will be away, so if you can register please I would be very grateful.

You can register for this on Run Britain and whilst there you can also sign up for the Larkfield 10K (which sold out last year).

Once again many thanks to all that participate, I hope you all enjoyed being part of it.
