Last Saturday I joined 12,000 runners in Rekjavik. I entered the half marathon (there were also Marathon, 10K and 3K races) and, as the only Harrier running , I suppose it’s down to me to write a brief race report.
This is a truly international event with many entrants from both sides of the Atlantic. The course is flat for all the distances so if you are looking for a PB…
It was baking hot on the day (for Iceland)- ie about 12 degrees and sunny. Much of of the course is along the coast road and the views would have been great if I hadn’t been concentrating on the road ahead and putting one foot in front of the other.
The organisation was superb with stacks of support , drink, cakes and lemons along the way. The race is held on Reykjavik’s Day of Culture with loads going on into the early hours. Iceland is a terrific place to visit and I can recommend these races.
For the record, my time was 1:49:12 . First M was Raymond McCormack Jr (USA) 1:05:17 and first F Jess Petersson (DK) 1:15:58. The full results are on RMI.IS.
All best
Nick
