Thanks to all that were able to attend the club run in Tonbridge last night. I believe we had over 80 Harriers participating which is great! Whether you took the opportunity to walk, do the long or short route or perhaps you were one of the few that felt it was worth doing a few extra miles, I hope you enjoyed the fabulous scenery and sunset over the River Medway.
I saw some great pictures being posted on Strava. Please feel free to upload to the usual place https://twharriers.smugmug.com/upload/MWHpSk/TWUPLOAD
Finally, If anyone left a black London Marathon zipped training top behind, please let me know and I can bring it next week.
Until next year
Cheers
Colin

Afternoon Harriers,
This coming week, Kent Cricket Club 2nds are playing at the Nevill Club and as we did last year, we are heading over to Tonbridge for a trail run along the River Medway and surrounding countryside in lieu of meeting at the Nevill.
We start and finish close to Tonbridge Fire Station on Cannon Lane TN9 1SW with free parking on the opposite side of the road in front of the Industrial Units. (Pass the fire station on your right and take the 1st left by Alsford Timber to access the parking area) Please aim to arrive in good time for a quick briefing and a 7:30pm prompt start. There is a 7.9m long and 5.5m short route with plenty of options for walking. This year we will go anticlockwise up Postern Lane to start, through the apple orchards, fruit farm, wheat and finally hop fields before heading back into Tonbridge on the Medway hopefully with a sunset ahead of us.
The routes are easy to follow but I will flour in a few places where they may be confusion. I will also tail run the long route for those that would like to join me at a pace that suits the group. For those using Strava, you can access the two routes from the links below and gpx files are also attached for upload
Short Route: https://www.strava.com/routes/3232667789684038788
Long Route: https://www.strava.com/routes/3232668307854658018
There are currently a few easily avoided muddy areas mostly on the longer route so road shoes will be fine unless you want a little more support from your trail shoes as the ground is rutted in places.
Post run drinks for those that wish, will be at the Vauxhall Inn just off the Pembury Road in Tonbridge. It has ample parking, but you MUST register your car when going into the pub. The car park has number plate recognition and a good number of us received penalty notices last year which the pub kindly cancelled. I doubt they will be sympathetic this time around!
Hope to see many of you on Wednesday.
Colin
