Afternoon Harriers
Please see below a race report from this morning and also a belated write up on the Folkestone 10.
Ted Pepper 10K Report
=====================
Following Matt’s appeal for entries 14 Harriers assembled on the start line this morning. Most had not competed in this event before so there was some debate about footwear. Despite horror stories about last year’s mud a few braved it in their super shoes, but as it turned out most of the course was baked hard with only one small section of mud.
The course started with one and a half laps on the track before heading out into Norman Park, firstly across grass and then tarmac path. The course turned into the woods, following the route of the Kent Leage XC course, which was notably less muddy than my last encounter with this terrain! The route went on to take in the woodland tracks around Bromley Common, then looped back into Norman Park for a fast tarmac section before finishing on the grass bank next to the track.
Overall, the race was well organised and marshalled, and the pre-race facilities at the track were much appreciated. An added bonus was a free pair of socks at the finish!

Folkestone 10 (Good Friday)
============================== ============
Some brief stats:
6 Harriers (3 men and 3 women)
10 miles of lorry lane speed restrictions on the M20
Nearly as many miles of toilet queue
1 PB (Maria Gandara – I don’t think there were any others)
1 nice wooden trophy and goody bag
1 cycling photographer
Too many Creme Eggs to mention (and fish and chips for some!)
All things considered a good day out!
