Yesterday we were treated to a beautiful crisp sunny morning, perfect conditions for a nice little 10k in Tonbridge.
Elliot and I arrived nice and early, looking forward to the race ahead. It was our first time doing this route, so I was a little apprehensive when some described it as flat while others described it as hilly. Definite mixed messages!
We were joined shortly after by Matt, David and Rose, so we were a small but very positive bunch of Harriers. We already decided before the race that we could be in with a decent chance of getting the top team of 4, if all went well!
Once we got going, I was delighted by the downhill that came pretty much immediately. After much speculation, I would describe the course as “mildly hilly”. Definitely not flat, but nothing compared to a lot of the local routes we’re used to. The finish was a beautiful downhill stretch, enabling lots of lovely sprint finishes.
It was a hugely successful race for the Harriers, as we were the top team of 4!
David Weston led the team to victory as the overall winner.
Elliot Chiles achieved a podium position for the first time with 3rd place, and also beat his previous PB by nearly 4 minutes.
Matt Newman came in 4th with another very strong performance
Rose Sawyer achieved a fabulous course PB.
I was so excited to be 3rd lady and receive my first running trophy! I also finished a couple of minutes quicker than my sub 45min goal so I went home very happy.
Well done everyone, it was a great morning! I look forward to returning to this race next year.
