Hi,
No matter the date, I was destined for the race report on this one as somewhat surprisingly I was the only Harrier at this fast flat local(ish) 10k. This is a Nice Work race in partnership with the Romney Marsh Rotary Club which meant it was well marshalled around the course and at the HQ where race number collection took place in quite an efficient fashion. Start was delayed 10 minutes due to the inevitable toilet queue.
The route heads out of New Romney on country lanes for approx. 2 miles, with a 2-mile lollipop before heading back into New Romney on the same road you came out on. It lived up to the billing of ‘flat’ with Strava recording just 26ft of elevation gain over the 6.2miles. As far as ‘fast’ goes, it probably is but the heat saw my pace drop away on the return. I would also say the road in/out of New Romney had some significant potholes which we were warned about before the start. You definitely needed to keep your eyes on the road in front.
Overall, quite a low-key enjoyable race in the flatlands with 268 finishers
