And so it was that 5 intrepid harriers ventured to the wilds of Paddock Wood to take part in the second running of the marathon relay competition. 6 teams, 5-8 runners per team (at least one lady), each running four laps of the track until a marathon was complete.
Our team was a mighty one as all harriers teams are of course -consisting of Ali Farrell, Amelie Karlsson, Dave Weston, Keith Mitchell and me, one of the Alexes.
I could bore you with the ins and outs of every leg but I won’t. Instead I’ll summarise as I remember it! Dave was both annoyingly but reassuringly fast, Ali consistently ran the fastest F50 mile (smiling the whole way round), Amelie would still be going now running sub 6 min miles if we hadn’t stopped her, Keith was his usual metronomic self and I ran so fast I pulled my right arse cheek.
We finished in a time of 2:31 something, still slower than Dylan on his own which is depressing, but we won the event beating Paddock Wood AC by about a lap!
Great event, great company – thoroughly recommended. Thanks too to Richard C-M for coming along, taking photos and cheering us on.
