Hi all
In Milton Keynes yesterday there were just under 2000 runners doing the Marathon, 2300 or so doing the half and 100 teams doing the Marathon relay. Everyone set off simultaneously (albeit in waves) and the first half of the full marathon was basically together with the half marathon. If you like stats here’s the results:

Milton Keynes is known for lots of dual carriageways and roundabouts; thankfully however much of the route was on the pleasant pedestrian tree-lined walkways. We also went through some villages, alongside the Grand Union Canal and a lake or two. Although it had nothing like the atmosphere and euphoria associated with bigger events, it was a really nice run and finished memorably in the StadiumMK.
Weather conditions were perfect – pretty fresh and dry – nothing like the heat of the previous few days.
I went with my friend Stuart. We left TW at ridiculous o’clock and got there with bags of time to spare for the 9am start. We are similarly paced so ran the first half together, then I edged ahead only to be overtaken by him at about mile 18!
I’d optimistically told Andrew D my goal time was 3:45, but in the real world I was hoping for early 50s. I didn’t quite manage that on the day and found the last couple of miles quite rough (well, it is a marathon). My chip time was 3:57:03 in the end, shaving a few seconds off my PB so happy days.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the club for your support, encouragement and inspiration – I never thought I’d be doing this kind of thing in my 50s!!
Best wishes
Dan
