Dear All
My plan of getting slow and resigning as captain to get out of writing group emails seems to have failed as Nicola has come up with a new strategy for race reports, I’m very grateful. Firstly well done to all those taking part, you can see from Craig’s email (copied below) a summary of all the team and individual prizes we won so well done all. I’m sure Bob will update with who managed to get a personal best (I see Ali got a club record!), but please also see below the full results.
So i’m now at a bit of a loss as to what to write about so I went to the help of Google for guidance who gave me https://www.womensrunning.com/training/why-you-should-write-a-race-report/ (think it still works if im not a woman)
- The event:
- Where? Larkfield
- How long? 10k
- When? Yesterday
- Weather? Fog just lifting at start so 100% humidity and we were all a sweaty mess.
- Course description and evaluation of event logistics – 2 laps of a mainly flat course, although not going through the grounds of the nice house and running down an alley way instead.
- How you trained for the event – Trained mainly by going running
- Your gear and nutrition – I wore some shorts, socks, trainers and my harriers vest. My nutrition was a bowl of cereal
- Specific experiences (this might include)
- Thoughts at every km – Really this seems excessive! how about I started off feeling tired and then each km I felt more tired.
- Mantras you may have used – don’t let too many harriers go past (I failed)
- Falls (if any—always entertaining) – I didn’t fall, will try to next time to entertain you
- Conversations you’ve had with others – Too tired for conversations, I might have said Go Ali, Go Colin as they both came shooting past.
- Conversations you’ve had with yourself – I did not talk to myself
- DNF experience (if applicable) OR Your finish and associated emotions – Main emotion was why am I almost 4 minutes slower than last time I did this in 2019! Although slight amazement several hours later when Craig said I won a bronze team medal!
- Your overall evaluation of the event – It is a great event, fast course, impressive cake stand and I actually like the 2 lap format so you know what to expect second time around.
As I’ve completed the template that must be everything covered.
Regards
Mike King
