I woke up with some misplaced hope that my new ASICS Magic Speeds might help me close the 57-5 head to head count against Keith. It now stands at 58-5 and I’m writing the race report as a result.
You’ll be pleased to hear that I’m not into long emails. Herewith my Deal race report. KGP race 2!
It’s a long way to Deal, even with Keith for company! It was also very cold waiting at the start line in our skimpy deckchair vests. The course is tough (lots of elevation) and given the field size (300 ish) can be a little lonely in parts, though good KGP pointage potential. It was a well organised event and there were loads of friendly Marshalls cheering us on. It was particularly nice to see Carol and Simon towards the latter end of the course.
Results below, they’re all awesome! But particularly impressive were Keith finishing 7th overall, Ali winning her age category and some massage sticks (it gets tiring praising her all the time) and Geoff second M60. If I don’t die of stress before I get to 60 and manage to run a 1:36 half, I’d feel pretty aggrieved to finish second! Especially on that course.
