Another Sunday, another half marathon, another race report. You are all very welcome.
Fog gave way to sunny blue skies.
We parked near a clean proper toilet.
Keith turned up with half his hand missing following some bike maintenance. I forgot to check if the bike is now fixed.
Amelie was an amazing second woman with another 2 mins off her pb.
It’s a hilly course. Another one.
I felt pretty awful at 10 miles and gave up chasing down the ridiculously fast trio of over 60s ahead of me. They were fixated on the gold medals ahead of them.
As it was Kent long course champs we registered knowing that we had a good chance of silverware.
Our haul was:
Amelie K second woman (overall and in Kent champs ) and recruited to represent Kent in the Essex 20 miler. Well done superstar.
Andy J and Geoff T 2nd and 3rd v60
V60 team GOLD along with Steve A
Ali F 3rd v45
Tara T 2nd v55
V45 team GOLD along with Jillian H
Women’s overall team SILVER (Amelie, Ali, Tara)
The results are a bit sketchy so I’ll send them out tomorrow (or ask my glamorous assistant to) but it also looks like me and Jillian were 1st and 2nd v50s in the overall race and Tara 1st v60, and Cliff may well have been 2nd v55 in the Kent champs . Once we check there are also records for Steve and Tara we think. Well done both. George also ran one of his fastest times in a while . Thanks to all who ran today as I know it’s a busy time of races. Your support was much appreciated as always.

I’m off to have a sit down and plan an A level
Lesson on St Augustine.
Have a good week!
Ali
