Afternoon Harriers
The third race of the Kent XC League took place yesterday at Danson Park. After a cloudy start to the day, we were once again treated to unseasonally warm and sunny conditions.
The course was largely the same as last year, running entirely on grass with a few gentle hills. However, the finish was in a slightly different position and a small loop was added which increased the overall distance. Conditions were dry underfoot and distinctly lacking in mud!
Following various traffic hold-ups and car parking chaos, we miraculously managed to assemble a total of 15 runners, with Stella and Peter Richardson and Margaret Deighton arriving just in time for the start of the Super Vets race.
Stella once again finished first in her category maintaining her 1st place overall in the League standings. (Another stellar performance from Mrs Richardson!)
In the Senior Women’s race, it was good to see Amelie Karlsson getting back to her previous form and leading the Harriers home. She was followed by Ali Farrall and Charley Adiseshiah to make up the three to score. Jillian Holford, Sue Cooper and Sonja King (making a speedy recovery from Covid) made up the six to score.
In the team’s competition, TWH maintained their current positions: 4th place in the 3-to-score and 5th place in the 6-to-score, with one race remaining.
Thanks to everyone who took part and hats off to those who ran whilst recovering from the Triathlon Club party the night before! Thanks also to all who came to support and those who provided cake!
