Nice Work Kent Club Championships

News
Evening all,

I am sure many of you are familiar with Nice Work, who organise, do race management and timing for many of the events we run across the county. What you may not know is they run a Kent Club Championship which is in its inaugural year, and it appears we are doing quite well in it with only a couple of months before the season ends!

Basically the principal is if you run in one of their events, in Kent, representing the club, you score points in the league (not too dissimilar to the KGP). Points are based on finish position and number of representatives. There are no separate men’s and ladies leagues, so everyone’s points accumulate together. Points available vary depending on race distance and are capped per event.

The prize at the end of the season, for the club with the most points, is a shield trophy engraved with the clubs name (always good to win some silverware as a club) and Nice Work will also give us discounted race entry (up to 250 entries) to their events for all club members for the following year.

Below are the current standings and a link to their website that explains the scoring system in more detail:

The remaining races of this seasons events are as follows:
28/05 – Folkestone Coastal 10k
04/06 – Otterpool Gallop
09/06 – Ashford Striders Charing 10k
25/06 – Hawkhurst 10k & 5k
02/07 – Bewl 15 & 5 Mile
09/07 – Woodchurch 10 & 5 Mile
23/07 – Deal Dinosaur 10k
23/07 – Romney Marsh 10k
30/07 – East Peckham 10k
Not wanting to detract from the KGP or other races members might have in mind, the possibility of helping the club win another trophy may just sway your mind towards one of the above when thinking about your next race choices. The ones in red are nearer / traditionally more popular with other Harriers, but for the points it would always help to have representation at them all!

I’ve been speaking to Nice Work about this championship and they are keen to promote it further into next season, so if anyone has any questions or wants to know more please message me off-group or speak to me at the club.

Happy Racing!!
