Race Report: Marden Half

Reports

So a small selection of Harriers went to Marden for their half marathon. For me, it was the first time. I was glad to get there at 8. As by 8:15, there was a meaty queue outside to

collect your number. The race has two distances. The half starts at 9, 10k at 9:30.
Fairly flat, with a big loop and then a small loop for half marathon runners and just a big loop for 10k. Run by the same organisers that run the Tonbridge 10, end-of-year run etc..
Being Nov and the previous week was like a wet monsoon. We did not know what weather to expect!
As we turned up it was a foggy and bit chilly, perfect running temperature. The roads were still open, so on occasion, a car or two went past there were water and feed stations on the road. The road at times was a bit slippery and found sometimes hard to grip it. The route was well signposted, however, when doing the half you did go past the start before commencing the smaller loop.
For me, although no PB, pleased for the first time in a while to run around without stopping.  Amazing how goals change!
Please note that I can only find current gun times, so times may reduce.
