Marden Half Marathon and 10km

Reports

On Sunday, 3 Harriers shunned the limelight, glitz and glamour that is the Brighton 10km and headed to Marden to run the local half or 10km.

This is a new venue for an old event, the relocation of the Mid-Kent Half from Hollingbourne.

The event certainly had a very low-key atmosphere to it with a small number of runners tackling the 2 lap route for the half and single lap for the 10km. The course was on quiet country lanes with little traffic and even less elevation.

Lovely little event with a good warm HQ serving rather dodgy smelling bacon rolls and tea & coffee ( with only 1 communal teaspoon to Hadda’s disgust!!) Given it was 2 laps it was made easier by the second lap of approximately 9 Kms having a detour to make it more interesting and shorter..

102 runners completed the half with the winner 8 minutes ahead of the field. Matt Clements and Steve Wellstead finishing 7th and 45th respectively.

177 runners took on the 10km route with Dave Hadaway coming in at a very respectable 8th.
