Maidstone Turkey Run

25th Turkey Run

On Sunday 10th Dec I adjudicated at the Maidstone Harriers Turkey Run
with the start and finish at East Malling Research Centre,
unfortunately missing our own ‘run out lunch’.

Not thinking I had gone completely unprepared for this event in that I
was one of the underdressed runners with everyone else supporting
Santa outfits, animal costumes and at the very least being tinsel
draped.

One thing you did need for this event was a good pair of trail shoes
as the majority of the course a distance of approximately 6.5 miles is
run mostly off road. Due to the recent snow fall parts of the course
were white but also very wet and the route the wood tracks was really
muddy and slippery. A very friendly race that sold out three weeks
prior with 650 entrants.

The winner was Tom Collins from Maidstone Harriers finishing in 39:36
with the first unattached female finishing in 47:43. I came 69th a
good position in 53:25 out of 505 finishers.
