Maidstone Half and KGP double victory

Reports (restricted)

Things started well when Orpington came over and gave us the Kent GP trophy at the start, I believe they saw the size of our team and just gave up! It was then down to our team of 20+ Harriers to rub salt into their wounds by sealing both the Kent GP Men’s and Ladies competition in emphatic fashion, I believe this is the first time we have won both Men’s and Ladies in the same year!

It goes without saying but many thanks to all of you who have taken part this year, there have been some exceptional performances and PBs along the way.  It really was very satisfying to see both teams overcome pretty large deficits after 4 races of the season to take both competitions almost with a race to spare!

As to the race well, it really was very scenic and for me at least the first half was very enjoyable (I was using it as a MP session), however the hills were something else and I think everyone suffered in the last half. They say a picture tells a thousand words so I have attached the profile! Alex Holmes even had to resort to accepting a doughnut off a spectator to power him home!

The preliminary results do not show club information (http://www.sportingeventsuk.com/race-results/maidstone-half-marathon-results-2019/) so I can’t work out the Kent GP scores or separate just Harriers at the moment, however race results in summary:

  • Dan Watt won!
  • Ana-Maria Green – first F45
  • TWH won the team prize, mixed team of 2 men and 1 lady (Dan Watt, Keith Mitchell & Jillian Holford)
  • Stewart Mcllwham – PB 1:36:49 (I literally don’t know how that is possible on that course)

Kudos awards go to Leslie, Simon, Jillian and Carol, all of which took part in both the cross country as well!

Regards

Mike
