Dear harriers,
Today a few harriers travelled to Lydd for the half marathon and 20 mile race.
I did the half and here’s how it felt.
I met Ali Farrall And Colin Rickets before the start we all discussed. the wind factor of the races. It was a chilly wind!
We set off 10 minutes later due to large toilet queues and right away it was wind from the right, wind in your face, wind from the right etc. I remember thinking that with 3 miles to go it will be with me.
20 milers and halfers run for 6 windy miles together then split . After rounding the human cone i immediately saw Ali and Hayden, thinking straight away that they would both catch me later on . Then i saw colin on the 20 course and we both cheered each other on.
I got good encouragement from the race adjudicator as well , our very own Mark Taylor.
But after the turn it was a very lonely race, i could see no one in front and was just trying to keep good form. With 2 miles to go I saw a chap in front in the distance. I couldn’t catch him and no one caught me! It seems we all ran a lonely race confirmed at the finish line .
Super chuffed for Colin in the 20 after our chat before the start, he’s training well for Boston and for everything he’s been through there’s a big big medal waiting for him. Well done today mate.
