Hillingdon Half Marathon

Reports

Having not been able to run Deal two weeks previously, I decided to enter the Hillingdon Half (10K option available too) on 24th Feb which was described as flat and very fast. The race starts and finishes at Brunel University near Uxbridge and consists of two very uninspiring laps which are mostly flat and mostly on pavements.

I believed my own hype and set off at new PB pace which was certainly not sustainable and slowed up at halfway so I wouldn’t completely overdo it. The not so easy run in was made worse by the very dull second lap before finishing in 1:38’59.

The organisers ATW Events decided to finish both half and 10K races together and had only one (as it turns out very long) queue for water, medal, t shirt and banana. This was made worse due to the warm weather because finishers would linger to refill the (sustainable) cups.

I didn’t bother picking up the medal or t shirt and opted to sit in traffic for 90 minutes on the M25 instead.

Great weather though!
