Harriers Track Update

News

Hi all

This is my first track communication since taking on the captaincy a few weeks ago.

Indoor – Lee Valley open track meeting, Sunday 1st December.

You will be hearing more from me in the Spring as we gear up for the Summer outdoor season. However, I thought it would be nice to let you know that there are opportunities to compete indoors on the track in these Winter months – with temperatures ranging indoors between 16-21 degrees Celsius, what’s not to like? This Sunday 5 Harriers will be competing at Lee Valley at distances of 600m, 300m and 60m (nobody quite fancied the 60m hurdles yet!). Entries closed some weeks ago as these events are less frequent than outdoor and demand is high. I will communicate future meetings that may be of interest. We will let you know how we all got on next week.

And to whet your appetite for indoor athletics the attached link shows Keely Hodgkinson’s indoor World best time at the 600m set in Manchester last year.

Starting Blocks

With those shorter distances in mind I am pleased to let you know that the club has invested in a couple of sets of starting blocks for Harriers that want to use them in competition and training. With interest fuelled by all the track documentaries from the streaming services I am hoping there will be members who will be keen to try the blocks – in training first and then in competition. At the moment we don’t have any training sessions planned but I will operate a library type service – taking responsibility for their whereabouts. Any Harriers wishing to make use of the equipment please do email me.

On your marks, set…..

Stuart
