Dartford Half

Reports (restricted)

Some welcome good news from Sunday’s Dartford Half and Kent champs.

Firstly thanks to all 30 of you who made it out, some very welcome last minute additions to my numbers! Many thanks to Bob for compiling the results as well, it turns out that being on parent duty means I miss a lot of what is going on! There are a few photos on the website though.

So to my amazement (it’s a tough course) PBs from Andy Emaes, Rob Hill and Clifford Gray. Also Age Group PBs from Geoff Turner, Ana-Maria Green, Janet Bird and Joy Croucher.  We also had our second claim Harriet Woolley win the Ladies race as well! We’re a little unsure if we won any of the team prizes as both had to leave before these were announced, so apologies there.

In terms of the Kent GP then we did pretty well as well and the ladies have turned things around taking 162 points. Orpington only scored 48 with Dartford scoring 135 and Tonbridge 98. In the men’s competition then once again it looks like a two horse race between us and Orpington with us scoring 511 to their 520 points. So we have lost a little bit but we should still have a good lead.

In the Kent champs we really did rather well!

Individual prizes:

  • Jillian 4th overall and 1st F45
  • Keith Mitchell – 1st M40
  • Andy Howey 2nd M50
  • Steve Austin 3rd M60
  • Harriet Wooley (2nd claim) 1st overall

Team Prizes:

  • Mens Team – (Andy, Keith, Andy Eames)
  • M40 Team – Keith Mitchell, Alex Holmes, Simon Howden
  • M50 Team – Andy Howey, Chris Potter, Dave Hadaway
  • M60 Team – Steve Austin, Nick Pierce, Richard French
  • Ladies Team – Jillian Holford, Amelie Karlsson, Lizzie Fox – Silver
  • Ladies F45 – Jillian Holford, Ana-Maria Green, Amanda Smith

So massive well done to all there and once again many thanks to all of you who helped put together your age group teams.

Lastly in the junior race Chloe King also ran in her first ever race. The kids had the option of running up to 4 laps of the track, Chloe decided her best chance was taking on the 400m and easily took the win (everyone else ran more than 1 lap). She was delighted with her medal but it’s going to be hard to keep up her 100% winning record. Her brother decided not to run and sulk on a bench instead, the organisers still gave him a medal (not sure how I feel about this!).
