Dartford Half Marathon

Reports

TWH had two representatives in last weekend’s Dartford Half Marathon which took place in damp and blustery conditions, though thankfully not the squalls encountered on the journey over beforehand.

The winner and first M40 was Danny Kendall of Cambridge Harriers in 1hr 13m; whilst first female was Ruby Spencer of Thanet Road Runners in 1hr 33.

Simon Allford finished 170th in 1hr 45; and Deborah Stamp 408th in 2hr 03. There were 755 finishers
And if you haven’t tried this race yet…

It starts in Central Park and ends with a loop round the park followed by a chance to sprint to the finish line after a lap of the running track. Much of the course is on quiet, traffic free country roads with attractive views punctuated by two or three sharp hills, particularly just after the mile ten marker, but nothing to rival Spring Hill.

There was plenty of free parking close by and the Cafe in the Park is a recommended bonus for spectators and runners alike.

I hadn’t run this race for a few years (and I’m sure I’ve run it in the summer before?) but always seem to enjoy it more than I expect to!
