The third race in the Kent League saw an impressive turnout of 13 Harriers in an overall field of 160 which is the biggest so far in the season. The weather was unseasonably mild and the rain which had been threatening thankfully held off. Maybe it was the sunshine but there were lots of smiling faces in the photos this time which shows how much everyone was enjoying it! A special mention goes out to Brenda Purse who was making her cross country debut!
Harriet Woolley was first Harrier home in 19th place. She was followed by Pru Clements in 30th place and Kate Naylor in 39th place to make up the three to score. The six to score was completed by Hayley Larkin (47th), Jillian Holford (50th) and Michele Bradshaw (72nd). Bryon (Spud) Taylor ran the same course in the M70’s race coming in 10th. The Harriers Ladies finished 7th in the three to score and 3rd in the six to score and are currently 4th overall in both competitions. Harriet is currently 6th in the overall standings after the first three races. In the W55 category Michele is currently in second place and Stella in fourth. There have been some great performances so far in both individual and team rankings. Let’s see if we can break into the top three for the team events in the final race of the season!
Post race venue was The White Hart in Sevenoaks, a firm favourite (and on the way home)
Sadly there are no more Kent League races for the ladies until February however we still have plenty of other cross country events coming up. The next will be the South of the Thames 5 mile race on 24th November. Ed will be taking entries for this shortly so please sign up!
