Two harriers travelled to the US to take part in the Chicago marathon, one of the majors and with 45,000 runners the organisation and experience was amazing.

Race conditions were just about perfect, I kept pace with the 4 hr pacers till mile 22 – when cramp hindered me 
. But I was back to it gunning for the sub 4 – I would have been delighted to see Garmin tell me at 3:56 that I had reached 26.2 but there was no finish in sight! I pushed on in the hope it might be just round the next corner, it was quite a few corners later…. Garmin clocking 26.8 miles so an extra 1/2 mile…. sob no sub 4.
