Morning Harriers
On Saturday 1st June we will be having a memorial run for Bob and scattering his ashes.
As many of you know, Bob didn’t have a funeral but it was his wish that his ashes be scattered on the Forest Way.
We will meet at 11am (sharp!) at the entrance to the Forest Way (Corseley Road). This will give people a chance to also attend parkrun that morning (Bob was a huge fan of parkrun).
There is a small car park just past the entrance to the Forest Way but it’s probably best to park in the village near the Junction Inn (TN3 9RB) and walk/jog the 0.6 miles to the start. From outside the Junction, go down Springfield Road and turn left onto Corseley Road. Continue past St Thomas’ primary school and bear left down the hill. Entrance to Forest Way is on the right.
Tony Lavender, a good friend of Bob’s and former Harrier, will say a few words before he and Bob’s family scatter the ashes. We will then have a 60 minute out-and-back run along the Forest Way. This will be suitable for all abilities, including walkers. PLEASE WEAR YOUR DECKCHAIR IF YOU HAVE ONE.
Afterwards, there will be sandwiches and cake provided at the Junction back in Groombridge and we hope many of you will stay for a while.
To ensure there is enough food, PLEASE REPLY TO THIS EMAIL (Simon.holford@gmail.com) IF YOU PLAN TO STAY AFTERWARDS.
Look forward to seeing many of you on the 1st.
Kind regards
Simon Holford
