Three Harriers ran the Bedgebury Forest 10 miles today (rescheduled from February due to snow). There was also a 5 mile option with no Harriers running. Conditions were wet, windy and muddy, perfect XC!
With all the runners waiting at the start line (getting soaking wet) they announced a delayed start as the first aiders were apparently lost somewhere in the woods. Some British style crowd-grumbling commenced. After 10 minutes we were finally off.
The 10 miles was an undulating two laps around the forest, mainly on trails and bridle paths. Great route – shame about the wind and rain!
I was surprised to see lots of club runners from much further afield which reminded me how lucky we are to have this beautiful venue right on our doorstep. Would highly recommend to anyone for a low key, organised muddy forest run (and a great medal).
127 runners in the 5 mile and 255 in the 10 miles.
1 Alex Taylor 1:02:25 (1st man Eton Manor AC)
12 Fiona Ford 1:11:06 (1st lady Ranelagh Harriers)
Harrier results:
21 Kate Naylor 1:13:18 (2nd lady)
59 Polly Haywood 1:22:10 (4th F40)
196 Mark Crowhurst 1:41:29
Thanks!
