Good evening Harriers,
The long wait is nearly over, and the new Kent XC League season gets underway this Saturday at Foots Cray Meadows!
Please find attached 2 pdfs: one with Race Info & another with TWH eligible runners.
If you have registered for cross country, please check that your name is on the attached list (note that the Men’s list is a single column that extends to a second page). If your name is NOT on the attached list, you are ineligible for Foots Cray this week. There are no entries on the day.
You do not need to inform me of whether you intend to run or not, and race attendance is not compulsory. We hope to see as many members as possible – come on, your time is now – but as long as you are registered, please just arrive on the day.
We will issue race numbers at Foots Cray, from the TWH gazebo near the race HQ. Please don’t forget to bring safety pins to attach your number to your vest.
Remember, all runners must wear club kit (deckchair vest & dark shorts/leggings) — please head to the Running Hub in Southborough if you need to buy a new deckchair. Please also remember that no headphones are allowed at Kent League XC. We got told off for this last year, so please, no headphones this season.
The Foots Cray course is the same as last year if memory serves correctly, and suitable for knobblies and spikes. Trail shoes might be ok (but it is raining as I type…).
RACE TIMES
13:20 | W65+/M70+ | 5 km |
14:10 | Senior Women | 8 km |
15:00 | Senior Men | 8 km |
VOLUNTEERS
If anyone is free and willing to come along to marshal or officiate please let me know asap! It would be ideal if we can supply one or two members to help.
LIFT SHARING
Please lift share as much as possible – St Johns Sports Centre is usually a good meeting point. Please arrange lifts between you, or post a message on the club Facebook group. (Note that Foots Cray Meadows is within the London ULEZ zone.)
Directions & parking info are on page 2 of the attached Race Info. Allow at least 5 minutes to walk from the car park to team HQ (the gazebo). Please arrive in plenty of time before your race, to get your number, faff a bit, and get warmed up.
CAKE |
As always, if you are able to make/bring cake with you for afters, it will be much appreciated & enhance your popularity.
PUB
The Bull Inn, Main Road, St. Paul’s Cray, BR5 3HS. Everyone welcome. Turn right out of L&Q car park. At the cross roads turn left (A224) and follow until you reach the big roundabout under the A20 (Crittals Corner). Follow signs to Orpington and turn left at the traffic lights just before Homebase (Main Road). The pub is at the end of the road on the left. Plenty of on-street parking.
