KGP – Larkfield 10k

News
All,

The penultimate race in this year’s Kent Grand Prix is the Larkfield 10k on Sunday 17th September. This is also the Kent Championships so it would be good to have a strong team out. Both the Men and the Ladies continue to lead the KGP standings and a good showing at Larkfield will leave us in a favourable position to claim some silverware.

As you may also appreciate there is a clash in the race calendar for this event as it is on the same day as the Tunbridge Wells Hospice in the Weald 10k (5k/HM). This is very unfortunate as many of us will be regular participants at this event and therefore face a tricky choice. In particular I have spoken to Ali Farrall as you will be aware a lot of us ran last year with her late partner Matt in mind. Ali has therefore made a great suggestion:

“You’ll be aware that Larkfield clashes with the Hospice run this year. Many of you will know that I was at the Cottage Hospice in Five Ashes with my partner Matt Green for a month last summer before he died. They are a truly amazing organisation and loads of you ran last year with pictures of Matt and have indeed run the course many times. I have made the difficult decision to run Larkfield, but will be supporting the Hospice in other ways. For those of you, like me, who wanted to do both, I have a suggestion you can use or ignore. The price difference between the two is £10 so I was thinking that those running Larkfield could use that to sponsor those of you or your friends that are running the Hospice run. I’ll be sponsoring my mum, who is doing the 5k. Thank you to those of you doing the Hospice run and have always supported it. I know that many of you have been supported by their love and care.”

Thanks,
