Terry is a well known Harrier and enthusiastic at the club, particularly when encouraging participation in road racing! His running career has been from 2002 – present
as a Tunbridge Wells Harrier, partially between 1999 -2002 as he was at university, and around also 1993 -1994 as part of the school cross country team.

Also the Hastings 42 this year, 7th in the Eridge 10 last year, winning the club roads in 2005 and many more.
I mainly took up running at University where I had the free time in a nice surrounding (Falmer, Sussex) to run around campus and the South Downs as a way of keeping fit and passing all that free time between occasional study.
I used to compete in table tennis in the Tunbridge Wells league, winning two cups and many matches. I also used to play a bit of football, tennis, and various other sports.
When I'm not running I'm thinking about running he jests. Well, working or looking for work, studying, reading, walking, computing, consuming media, food, beer, living generally I suppose if you know what I mean.
Has to be Abingdon Marathon last year, the perfect race where I somehow ran 6:40 miles for 22 miles only randomly losing 42 seconds on the footpath section in mile 23 before recovering to finish in 2:55:02, a mere 22 seconds slower than my target time, and the completion of a five year quest to get under three hours for marathon.
There is also the 2005 Road Race Champs which I won.
Hastings Half Marathon 2005, where having received advice that the only way to a quick time was to attack the hill I did so only to end up beaten by a lady and had to be given oxygen by a St Johns ambulance man – never again.
Well glib to say the Tunbridge Wells
Half or Eridge 10, but perhaps the half as it was my first and led to all the
others.
Train hard in all weathers, as hard as possible, don’t drink much beer, eat well, train on hills and off road & mentally.
Myself at present.
Sometimes I think about everything, all the troubles of the world and life can be sorted on a long run, although often its nice to not think of anything but the form, the road, the trail and the next place where the run will take you to.
Crisps or other salty or fatty foods, beer, fluids.
To win an open race and more minor wins, to get my PB’s down a bit more and to run and do something outstanding .
Yet to come I fear.
I do love TWH as it has enabled me to take running far beyond what I ever thought possible, where I once thought that you did your marathon and forever rested on that laurel I soon realised that I liked this sort of thing, was quite good at it and would do it again. To compete against the best in Kent at cross country and road is one of the results. The spirit and camaraderie of the club is the best thing however plus the friendliness and inclusiveness of everything that goes on. I enjoy the social side as much as the competitiveness. As you may or may not know I have written songs and a poem about the club already.
