Report from Derek Harrison:

Well done to all Harriers who competed in the Kent Coastal Marathon today. The damp windy conditions made for a tough race. It was not going to a day for PBs but some great times were achieved nonetheless.

First home for the club was Terry Everest 16th in 3.15.17 followed by Mike Thompson 17th in 3.16.07. These two had raced together for most of the race with their positions swapping on several occasions. After 19 miles Mike got ahead of Terry and forged a lead of about a minute, until, with less than a mile to go, Terry caught and passed Mike on the only hill on the second half of the course and went on to finish 50 seconds ahead.

Other finishers were:

22        Derek Harrison     3.22.54

36        Simon Allford        3.31.06

40        Michael Russell      3.33.59

49        Geoff Turner         3.37.10

The winner was Julian Rendall of Tonbridge AC in 2.44.46.

We won the team event, and Terry, Mike, and Simon won silver in the Kent Championship team event. (We were equal on points with Thanet Roadrunners, but lost out on the 'countback rule' whatever that is).

Sadly, we had no women taking part  (sorry if you were there Ana, but did not see you and didn't see you in the results).

Details from Thanet Roadrunners AC.
