It was damn cold at Epsom Downs on Sunday where I enjoyed the oddly named "The Perch" cross-country race - starting and finishing at the race course.

For changing/showers we got to use the jockey's weighing room. It's a lovely course over the Downs for 6 1/4 miles including some mucky woodland paths which were frozen solid - and it started to snow during the race.

Unfortunately I ran like a donkey for 29th but bumped into Tim Lucas running for his other club East Grinstead who stormed home for 11th out of the big field of 600 odd.

I guess this race is usually the day after the South of England XC so hasn't featured on the Harrier's fixture list but I would highly recommend it as a good tough off-roader.
