Sorry I wasn’t at the Penshurst XC, but I flew the flag for TWH at the Knacker Cracker 10km (or, in this Olympic year, a sort of Cheeky-10km at 12+km, with a couple of extra hills added), five and a half times up and down Box Hill with 1700ft of climb, reputed to be the hardest 10km in Britain. All off road, apart from a loop on tar taking in part of the Olympic cycle route, gloriously muddy, steep and scenic- what I’d call a proper cross-country course.
There were 252 finishers and I finished 143rd in 90:52 (winner was Jake Moran in 58:31), 3rd V60. Many of the participants wore fancy dress but I thought the deck-chair outfit fancy enough and it elicited both encouragement on the course and a couple of comments from fellow runners complimenting TWH on organising the best half marathon in the country. I can recommend the event- low key, very friendly , lots of fun and superbly organised.
