So the W35 team of Pru, Sarah and Kim were second, the W45 team of Tara, Jeannette and June were first, and Tara and Jeannette were second and third in their race. Unfortunately the W45 team will have to wait for their gold medals as they were given to Swanley in error, but I'm sure it will be worth the wait.
With a fierce mens field this year the male Harriers team struggled to equal the great perfomances of our ladies, but some good individual performances, good weather and a great reception from other runners made it a memorable event.
9.5K - M40 - 5 Harriers competed, 4 to score
Simon Whitaker, as usual first home in 12th, followed by Dave Hadaway 18th, Daryl Palfrey 32nd and after following Simon Holford for the entire race, Geoff Turner took 52nd at the finish.
6th out of 8 teams
9.5K - M50 - 5 Harriers competed, 3 to score
Des O' Donnell led the Harriers home in a comfortable 6th place, only beaten by some of the best runners in the county. Mark Taylor took second Harrier home in 26th and was followed by Steve Austin in his first ever race and 34th place, also scoring points for the club.
5th out of 10 teams
4.5K - M60 - 3 Harriers competed, 3 to score
Our ever present president Allan Cheek was first harrier home in 19th, his time aided by needing to open the Running Hub shortly afterwards. John Hepner came in 24th and Pete Burns 27th to make up the 3.
6th out of 6 teams
Not forgetting our M70 ran at the same time as M60, but with no team competition. 2 Harriers finished, John 'JJ' Johnson came in 3rd and the unstoppable Spud took 5th.
As a non vet I took nearly a thousand photos on the day, please distribute to those who raced on the day as they're freely available from the Harriers photo site.
