We are delighted to announce that we have agreed a significant sponsorship arrangement with The Children’s Mutual for the 2008 Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon. This is a fantastic opportunity for the Half Marathon and the Harriers and we are thrilled to have their support.
The Children’s Mutual (formerly Tunbridge Wells Equitable Friendly Society) is based on Mount Ephraim and specialises in long-term savings plans for children. It is a leading provider of Child Trust Fund accounts and has been voted Best Child Trust Fund Provider in 2006 and 2007 by independent financial magazine, Moneyfacts.
Our involvement with The Children’s Mutual means that the Half Marathon will have a greater profile in 2008 and we will be focussing our efforts into marketing and publicity more than in previous years. Plans for next year are already underway some of which are highlighted here:
- The race will be the Kent Half Marathon Championship race and will also be one of the Kent Grand Prix races for 2008.
- Cash prizes will be on offer for 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female. £250 for 1st place, £100 second and £50 for 3rd. An extra incentive will also be on offer for breaking the course record.
- We will be offering a subsidised crèche for younger children (of runners) and some exciting sports activities for older kids - enabling parents to run together and leave their children knowing they are well looked after.
- We will have a specific children’s charity this year (tbc) which will benefit from the race profits and will be publicised in the race literature.
