Kent Grand Prix 2009 - final results
Following a delay to the results of the final event, the Wilmington 10k, the final results of the Kent Road Running Grand Prix have now been published.
With a superb effort throughout the season, the men's team retained their trophy with an aggregate score of 4252 pts, finishing ahead of their closest rivals Invicta East Kent AC by 355 pts - this was an improvement of over 300 pts on last year's winning score. The women's team finished in 5th place out of 32 clubs behind winners Maidstone Harriers.
There were many excellent individual performances, but Nick Leech was the outstanding Harrier, taking 3rd place overall in the men's event out of 505 competitors - only 6 pts behind winner Anthony Jackson of Sittingbourne Striders.
The highest scorer for the men's team was Craig Chapman, who finished 5th overall with a score of 675 pts from 8 events. Michael Russell was the only Harrier to compete in all 10 events. Siân Roberts was the highest scorer for the Harriers in the women's event, taking 225 pts from 7 events.
In the veteran categories, Michael Thomson finished as 4th M40 with Andy Howey in 8th. In the M50 category, Derek Harrison was 8th, as was Bernie Bass in the M60s. Tara Taylor and Siân Roberts finished in 9th and 10th places respectively in the F35 category, with Jo Clift finishing 7th in the F45's.
