Crowborough 10k

On a very windy, but thankfully dry, Sunday morning six Harriers squeezed into the narrow start lane for the Crowborough 10k. The race started from Beacon Academy before joining an undulating 2 lap circuit on mainly open roads and pavements including a very full ford, a steep hill in the middle, and an uphill finish.

Derek Harrison’s deckchair seemed to have suffered a serious colour run incident in the washing machine and looked remarkably like a Wadhurst Runners vest! We’ll let you off Derek as this was a Sussex Grand Prix event! With no chip timing and a narrow road at the start there was quite a bit of jostling for position before the race quickly spread out. Lewis AC won both the mens and women’s races in 35:08 and 41:23 respectively.

Cyprus International 4-day Challenge

The Paphos and Akamas National park are beautiful locations for our annual 4-Day Challenge – an excellent mixture of traditional road running and spectacular trail running, which has quickly been recognised as one of the toughest and best organised multi-stage challenges.

  • 6km Individual Time Trial on Thursday evening. It’s a short distance and a flat road course but it is so hard to judge the pace correctly when you set off with 10sec gaps in random order.
  • 11km Hill Climb race on Friday, which takes you from the seashore in the Akamas National Park in a steady trail climb up to the pretty church at the top of the hill at Pano Aroles.
  • Akamas Mixed-Terrain Half-Marathon on Saturday, which must be the most stunning in the world. Climbing through the Akamas Forest you then decend to the coast on an 8km long downhill section with staggering views of the bright blueMediterranean – finishing on the beach so you can cool off by splashing in the waves.
  • Paphos 10km road race on Sunday – the grand finale starts from the ancient harbour castle at Kato Paphos and  finishes in a buzz of excitment with music, finishers medals, breakfast snacks and beer.

On Sunday evening clients on our packages will be able to enjoy the Celebration Dinner and Prize Giving Evening at theCoral Beach Hotel – great food and a chance to chat about your success with other runners and maybe dance the night away if you still have the energy.

A20 Path and Downs Half Marathon

Because the Maidstone Half was cancelled, the organisers of the Kent Grand Prix have added a final race the A20 Path and Downs Half Marathon on Sunday 15th November to finish the season.

Unfortunately this clashes with the ever popular Brighton 10k but if anyone hasn’t entered Brighton and fancies a Half Marathon instead, this is the one for you!
